  • 2016 Magazines
  • 2015 Awards
  • 2014 Awards
The CODAvideo program recognizes the best videos that tell the stories behind commissioned art projects, where art is successfully integrated into interior, architectural, and public spaces.

Presenting the 2017 CODAvideo Magazine

In 2017, the CODAvideo Program took the form of one very special CODAmagazine: Video II. We are proud to be partnering with Hotel RL to get these videos even more exposure beyond this magazine. They will showcase the videos in both the lobbies and rooms of all their U.S. properties through “The Living Stage” program. Click the image above to browse the projects.

Selection and Categories

Selections for the magazines will be done by the CODAworx editorial staff. Staff members will read full project descriptions and review at minimum the first 5 minutes of each video submission. Selections will take place between November 16 and December 6, 2016. The jury will select one Video as the Editor's Choice in each of the following categories: Concept, Collaboration, Process, and Experience.

Prizes

CODAvideo Program selections will be announced in December 2016. Selected videos will be announced in a digital magazine, CODAmagazine, through Flipboard - One published each week of December 2016. They will be showcased for seven months in the CODAworx exhibition at the Octagon Museum in Washington, DC - Opening March 23, 2017. And they will be featured on the CODAworx website and on the 2016 CODAvideo: Magazine Editions webpage.

In addition, one video in each category will be selected as the Editors Choice. Each Editors Choice video will receive cover placement on one of the four CODAvideo magazines, and will earn a one-year Creative Profile on CODAworx.com (valued at $500 USD).

In promotion of winning Videos, we will do our best to identify the principal designers, architects, artists, art professionals, and industry resources involved in the Video’s Project, provided that information has been provided to us by the Submitters.

The CODAworx Manifesto

  • Art matters. Attention to the details of our environment leads to love of place, which brings us to take responsibility for the spaces where we live and work. And by extension, the people with whom we live and work. And by extension, to our local communities, our cities, our nations, and our world.
  • We champion the role of artists in our society. We need artists to provide us with inspiration, creativity, and imagination, and to help us envision a better world.
  • Architects and designers know that remarkable design can change everything. They connect the dots across disciplines, collaborating with artists to make the world a more beautiful place. They are the ultimate patrons of the arts.
  • In the process, design professionals promote imagination and creativity, and through their commissions, make original art integral to and accessible in people's lives.
  • Art in our public and private spaces helps us fight ordinary buildings, ordinary streets, ordinary cities. We celebrate the extraordinary.
  • The architecture of our buildings and the design of our interiors affect our happiness and well-being. Each of us deserves a daily dose of inspiration.
"Leave good footprints." -Ellen Kochansky, artist
